Year 6 Camp Kawau Island
Walt: Write a detailed recount about our experience to Kawau Island |
Far away from home for 3 days on Kawau Island. On Tuesday the 15th of November year 6 student went to Kawau island. But when we went the year 5 and two year 6 students went to Motat. When we went to Kawau island we saw stingrays and six Orca's.
When we went kayaking the wind blew 3 people over in the water. There are 4 teams but we line up in our A and B lines sometime’s.
The teams that was there was Katz, Kawau, Mansion and Benson. It was fun because we watched movies and played games. The movie we watched was The Princess's Bride and the game we played well it wasn’t more like a game it was like a dancing competition.
Every morning we would always hear the Bugle and it would wake us up at 6:30 - 7:00 and go for our run. It was so tiring because there was heaps of hills that went up. For Breakfast I had porridge with brown sugar and it taste nice.
For Afternoon Tea we had hot food. For Dinner we had hot food and bread. After we finished we had desert. There was Jelly, Ice cream, Chocolate sauce, Sprinkles and Waffy’s. I had a little bit of everything. It taste delicious.
We would practice our item for our camp. When we finished and it was dark we would go get changed, Brush our Teeth, Get our Torches and go outside on the deck ready to play spotlight.
But when we finished they told us to go to bed and the time was 11:30 - 12:00. But one the next day it felt strange but I don’t know why.
When the Bugle went off it wasn’t noisy. It was so quiet. The very first thing we did was get up get our Toothbrush and Toothpaste.
Once we did all activities we got to have a swim. When Sabrina came on she went to go jump and I pushed her but when she came on she said “Who pushed me” and everyone said Shelley!!
When we finished we got to have a shower but it was only for 3 minutes. Because if we take too long we would miss out on Dinner.

Walt: write a narrative
One cold night I was sleeping in my bed and I was thinking about something. So when I called my friend’s (Which were) Kerstin, Bryana and Penny they said what is it and I said why don’t we go camping in the forest and they said yes and we packed our stuff and off we went.
When it was our first day camping we discovered that there was a bush that was really rare because there wasn’t that much bushes around because it was a forest. It looked so amazing it had the smell of chocolate and strawberries. But on the outside it looked just like a stinky old bush.
The bush had these were symbols on it. It had an Eye and a Eagle. But there was heaps of them on the ground. We keeped studying it but we didn’t know what it was. Only the greatest can find out and that is Scientist. A long time ago Bryana was a Scientist but she said she had never seen symbols like this befor.
As the days went by Kerstin, Bryana and Penny were catching food. The only food over in the forest was fish, Weasels, Stoat and Ferret. If they wanted to have a drink they had to poke a hole in the tree and water would come out because that was the only way to have a drink.
We noticed something really different in the forest there was only a little bit of wind. Every time at night Kerstin, Bryana and Penny’s tent was always shaking so they would go outside and look but they only heard rockets being moved by someone or something.
The next morning when they woke up there was rocks were in front of the tent. They went to go and check on the bush and they noticed that it had been moved just a little bit. But when they opened the bush it had the same symbols as before. It had the Eye and the Eagle.
It was so tiring waking up in the morning because we had to pack up our stuff and start walking. We all walked for 8 hours. If our feet was sore we had to stop for a little rest. We would set up our tent when the sun sets it only takes us 5 minutes to set our tent up.
Every time in the morning we would always see the bush and the bush would always have the same symbols. We do not know what was going on in the forest but we know that someone or something was following us.
We saw something run past us really quickly and it was black. It felt like a dark shadow. When we keep on walking we found a hand print and a little note. The note said if you want me come and find me. But the hand print was so small it looked like a child's hand print.

Lost in the forest
Walt: narrate a story about a character getting lost in the forest while camping |
One day we went camping in the forest and we got lost. By the way my name is Charlie and I have 2 sisters and 1 brother including me. My sisters names are Kim and Cleo. My brothers name is William. My Mums name is Charlotte and my Dad's name is Zane.
We were all feeling really Angry, Hungry and Tired. The reason why we were getting Angry, Hungry and Tired it’s because we were lost. We all had the same idea. Our idea was to put sticks on the ground and brake of a branch from a tree. That is how we know that we’ve been there. Because there were heaps of paths we needed to take. There was 5 paths we needed to take.
We had a map but the next day we looked and the map was gone. We asked each other did you take the map and everyone said no. But hours later in the afternoon William admitted it. He said I kick the map in the river but when he told us we were really angry with him. The only thing he said was the map was useless anyways.
But lucky we had a Flare Gun but we only had 3 rounds left. But there was 5 Flare Gun’s left. We almost got 1 each but only if there was 1 more Flare Gun.
But a few hours later we were saved from people and we never ever went back there again. But the people who saved us they went back there and they got lost just like us. But they never survived because they were Angry, Hungry and tired.

Immersion Assembly
Walt: Explain what you did during your holidayRecount what happened during Immersion Assembly
In the holidays I went to Rarotonga. It was so cool because we got to climb the tree’s, watch the Coconut Crabs roll the coconut’s. We would always go swimming at the beach. After we finished swimming we ate Taro and Coconut cream.
The next day we came back and got lots of rest. Some of us were tired some of us were still hungry and some of us had a sore stomach. We were in the toilets for 2-4 hours.
On Sunday we went to church. When we finished church it was nice breezy and sunny. It was so hot that we hoped in the pool as soon as we got home.
If we were to go swimming we would have to leave or clothes on the line. The line goes right across the coconut trees. If we left them there the crabs would take it. That is why we only stay in there for a little bit of minutes.

Olympic Narrative
Walt: Narrate a story about an Olympic athlete getting lost in Barra, Rio.
On a hot refreshing sunny day in Brazil Rio the Olympics had just started. “Isabell Werth was walking with her friends and got board so she pluged in her earphones in and listening to Pia Mia, Chris Brown and Tyga hot songs Do It Again.”
As she was walking she didn’t notice she was in the wrong building and she went to sleep and woke up. “Ahhh!!” she screamed.”What am I doing here?” She was realised she was at the London Eye. When they started spinning it she was terrified. But when it finished her hair was all tied in a knot.
She kept asking and asking people if they knew the way back to the Olympic Park. Isabell asked a lady if she knew, and the woman gave her a map. She said “ This would help you find you way back”. The it was the time Isabell came to a man and he gave her a spinning arrow that led her right towards where she wanted to go.
If she uses those things together it will help her get back the the Olympic Park. So she added up those things together and it gave her heaps of clues of where to go.
The next day when she final arrived at the Rio Olympics she was tired. Isabell didn’t know what was going on. But when she woke up she was dreaming.
They wanted to tested her blood results to see if she cheated or not. When they found out they kicked her out and she had to give them her the gold, Silver and bronze medals the ones she won.

Hiwi the Kiwi
Walt: Narrate a story about Kai Moana that teaches others things we need to remember
When you go fishing and you catch a fish it has to be 30 centimeters. If it is longer you have to put it back in the water because it can probably be the mummy fish or the daddy fish. If you put it back in the water make sure you pick it up with a wet towel because if you pick it up with a dry towel or your hands their skin codes come of. The songs we learnt was “Kai Moana” and “Pukeko Echo”. It was a really fun song to learn because we got to stand up and have a dance. But if we did dance we would have to sing along with the song to.

They would give us questions and we would have to answer them. For Example: They would say “Kia Moana food from the”? We would put our hand up and we would sing the song. “Kia Moana food from the sea”. If we get it right we get a poster and a sticker. They would say well done. They were from the country. But when they were singing they sounded like they were from the country
The last thing they taught us was how to go fishing and how to catch the right size fish. They said who wants to win the Hiwi Kiwi fishing rod. Everyone was shouting Me! Me! Me!
He said if you have one of the best story you will win the fishing rod.

Olympic History
Walt: Explain the history of the Olympic games
Do you know about the Ancient Olympic Games? It started in 776 BC in Olympic, Greece. When the games ended a French man started the Modern Olympics in 1896. In 1900 is when they allowed women to compete in the Olympic games. There were nine different sport like athletics, swimming, javelin, cycling and others.
Now there are many different kind of sports like: Tennis, Javelin, Weight Lifting, Cycling, Swimming, Running, Chariot Racing, Boxing, Wrestling and many other things. IOC stands for International Olympics Committee, they are the organisers and governing body of the Olympics. In 1936 is the very first time they put the Olympics on the television.
This year the Olympics will be held in Rio, Brazil. I'm really excited because I can watch them on T.V doing different events.

Speech Marks

As soon as Tim got his pocket money, he jumped on his bike and raced straight down to the shop. How can I help you? asked the shopkeeper.
Tim looked long and hard at all the ice-blocks and finally said, I'd like a “lemonade ice-block” please. Here's your ice-block. “That will be one dollar and fifty cents,” said the shopkeeper. Tim put his money on the counter and headed out the door calling, Thanks very much, as he went.
Come back, called the shopkeeper. There's fifty cents change.
In that case, said Tim, walking back to the counter, “I'll have a packet of chewing gum” as well. There you are. I “hope you enjoy it,” said the shopkeeper. I will, said Tim.
